Hunger in Chicago

In Cook County this year, it is expected that 1 in 7 people will face hunger or food insecurity. Food insecurity in the Chicagoland area affects those from all backgrounds and communities. Even before COVID-19 reached Chicago, 36% of households could not afford basic necessities. COVID-19 has only further exacerbated these issues and laid bare various racial and economic disparities that make people vulnerable to food insecurity, as it has shown to disproportionately affect people of color, low-wage workers, and people with disabilities. With mass shutdowns and safety restrictions for opening, local Chicago businesses and their owners have also suffered. Your donations are critical in supporting both individuals that face food insecurity and their communities.
