Hunger in South Carolina
As a predominantly poor state, one in eight South Carolinians struggles with hunger. Even more devastating, one in six children struggles with hunger. Public schools in South Carolina have helped tackle this issue by providing free meals to students in need. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has halted children's ability to attend school and thus eat. On top of that, unemployment rates have risen, so many parents are without a paycheck and are struggling to put food on the table. Unemployment checks are scarce, and involvement with RoundTable could mean the difference between life and death for families in need.
